Fronting /k/ with chomper champs
Initial /k/ Activity
/k/ and /g/ fronting are COMMON goals I see in my preschool speech kids and I LOVE using my Chomper Champs to make practice a little more fun and camouflage the repetitiveness of it when we’re still in the establishment phase!
Check out this fun initial /k/ activity I use for Chomper Champs. “A Cup of Hot Cocoa” is a FREE download on my TPT website. The word cards are sized for Chomper’s mouth perfectly.
Here’s how I like to target initial /k/ with Chomper Champs:
Cut out the word cards.
Place them face down on the table or floor.
Have the child pick a card, turn it over and see what it is!
This will be Chomper’s snack but we have to practice the word before he’ll eat it!
Do our repetitions to practice the sound at whatever level the child is at!
Feed to Chomper Champs! I make him growl and be “spunky” while he’s eating and the kids LOVE it and we laugh the whole time!
This free download also includes /t/ vs /k/ minimal pairs and a cut/paste marshmallow activity that I will use in our session or send home for a fun homework activity!
Check out this freebie in my TPT store here. For a few dollars you can purchase the fronting bundle including themed activities for /k/ in all word positions with photo cards for Champ!
